The Art Rental Catalogue was created as a digital publication to showcase a curated selection of Egyptian Art from The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s public domain collection. The purpose of this catalogue is to provide a refined, accessible platform for patrons to explore and rent Egyptian art, highlighting its historical significance and aesthetic beauty. The project aimed to balance academic depth with a user-friendly interface to ensure the catalog was both informative and engaging for all users.
Design Approach & Strategy
The design approach was centred around creating a sophisticated and immersive experience that reflected the grandeur and mystique of Egyptian art. The catalogue needed to be both visually captivating and easy to navigate, offering patrons an intuitive way to explore and rent artwork.

1. Art Genre Selection
Egyptian art was chosen for its rich history, symbolic representations, and distinctive artistic style. By selecting Egyptian art, the catalogue aims to convey the grandeur of ancient Egypt, allowing patrons to connect with the artwork’s cultural and historical significance.

2. Tone & Aesthetic
The tone of the catalogue was designed to be sophisticated and regal, reflecting the awe-inspiring nature of Egyptian art. A combination of royal green and orange hues was used to evoke a sense of elegance and mysticism. Serif and sans-serif fonts were paired to ensure the text was both elegant and legible, with the overall design remaining accessible and easy to navigate.

3. User-Friendly Interface & Navigation
The catalogue was designed with user-friendliness in mind. Clear categorization and logical navigation allow users to effortlessly explore various pieces of Egyptian art. Descriptive labels and concise text provide insight into each piece's history and significance, ensuring an educational yet enjoyable browsing experience.

4. Interactive Features

PDF Interactivity: The catalogue was created as an interactive PDF, with clickable hyperlinks to the Museum’s website and embedded multimedia such as slideshows or subtle animations. This added a layer of engagement, enhancing the user experience while providing additional information about the artworks.

Fillable Order Form: A fillable order form was included within the catalogue, streamlining the rental process. This form allows users to easily inquire about or rent the art, with direct links to The Met's rental department and contact information.
